Glossary of IT terms and phrases

My glossary is small, and rarely update.
A search of the net should bring up numerous glossaries with the various acronyms and phrases that the IT community uses. Try searching Google for something like

DOMAIN
The breakdown of region or goup that makes up an email address.
dot COM for commercial,
dot NET for network,
dot ORG for organisation.
dot COM dot AU would be a commercial domain name in Australia,
there are more turning up as you read, .biz .info etc

EFTPOS
Electronic Funds Transfer @ Point Of Sale

FLA
Four Letter Acronyms, the busy internet typist uses many acronyms. FLA's are common.

IE
Internet Explorer, Microsoft browser software

ISP
Internet Service Provider, the folk who connect you to the internet.

IT
Information Technology, Internet Technology

OE
Outlook Express

OEM
Original Equipment Manufacturer

POP
Point of Presence, Post Office Protocol

SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol

UBE
Unsolicited Bulk Email, usually known as spam.

UCE
Unsolicited Commercial Email,
a slightly incorrect reference to UBE
