How to Make your own Vegetable Oil fuel for your Diesel engined vehicle.

@

1. Secure and collect a supply of used vegetable oil. Store SAFELY in clean containers.

2. Purchase the appropriate parts: the in-line heater and solenoid from somewhere like www.biofuels.ca , the fuel lines, auxiliary pump, clamps and wiring from your local auto parts dealer, the second fuel tank from a motor wreckers and the urn and filter papers froma catering supplier. Clean the fuel tank (insides) before fitting.

3. Fit the parts and have the electrics checked by an experienced person with a multimeter, Fit the oil filter in a position which is after the in-line heater.

4. Heat and filter the vege oil. Add to second tank.

5. Start the engine on [Bio]Diesel. Switch to oil after a couple of minutes. Switch back to [Bio] Diesel about 5 or 10 miutes before the end of the journey to purge the fuel lines of any vege oil.

WARNING: THe engine will not start cold on vegetable oil. If the fuel has not been switched back to [Bio]Diesel before shutting down the engine start the car again andswitch back to [Bio]Diesel. Run the car for 5 minutes. Vegetable oil is too viscous (thick/not runny at standing temperature) and will clog the fuel injector mechanisms. If you leave vege oil in the lines after shutdown then at next startup you will need to purge the lines by cranking it over with the battery until [Bio]Diesel runs again. This puts extra wear and tear on the car's starter motor, solenoid and battery.
